Alpha Legion Rhino

This is the first of my two rhinos for my Alpha Legion.

This is a second hand rescue that was painted mainly with bolt gun metal. A few of the spiky chaos bits had fallen off and needed replacement.

I added an old bolter from a previous rhino kit and created a havoc missile launcher with a kit bash from the rhino accessory sprue and a missile rack from a mate of mine.

For the new paint job, I gave it a hit with my air brush with chrome and then applied my usual alpha legion mix paint scheme. I was a bit worried the old paint was too thick but this was not an issue when I started my painting and then a pair of the long chaos words transfer covered up some of the damage.

As is the case in the my other alpha legion I wanted as many parts to be my yellow green mix of the weapons becoming one with the warp.

The chaos panels on the back of the rhino came up really well as did the chains and other chaos icons.

My fist game with the rhino was a good learning curve with my goal to use the rhinos to safely deliver my chosen and my next project which will be Alpha Legion Rubic marines with their flamethrowers.

Hers’s a sneak peak of the unit.

Alpha Legion Obliterators

Some more heavy back up for my Alpha Legion are these mighty Obliterators.

These bros fit in well with the rest of my Alpha Legion as they are the ultimate mix of marine and war machine.

As usual painting followed my usual paint scheme trialled with my first unit of legionnaires. The only new approach was for the plasma weapons, ammo and feed which had a plasma red speed paint over a yellow undercoat.

I really like my tentacle green that makes the weapons look like my theme which is after 10 000 years of “loyalty”, the marine is becoming one with his armour and weapons.

More Alpha Legion transfers have been obtained so I made sure these bros have a suitable amount of legion insignia and where possible some chaos runes across larger panels. I am very happy with the “text” paragraph on the power fist on one of the bros.

After listening to the Long War Podcast talk about skin tone washes, I also added a watered down GW purple was across the recesses of the skin areas. This came out very well so will be tried for future skin tones.

I have my first game with a heap of my new Alpha Legion tomorrow where these bros will be deep striking to victory.

Alpha Legion Maulerfiend

The ranks of the Alpha Legion are boosted with this maulerfiend conversion.

The maulerfiend uses the mutalith beast as a base minus the large magic vortex that usually goes on its back.

The conversion was pretty simple with the magma cutters represented by a couple of weapons I think from an actual maulerfiend/ forgefiend kit.

.

I tried my hand at making some slime to hang off the tentacles. The slime was made using uhu glue wrapped around the tentacles and when dried, painted up using my tentacle painting scheme. Probably needs some gloss varnish but I have run out so this will be done later.

The paint scheme of the maulerfiend followed that of my other Alpha Legion which was finished off with transfers from the legionaries kit.

I am now close to 2000 points of my new Alpha Legion and have a game next week which will be lead by Cypher whilst I finish my next conversion.
