Chaos Lord of Nurgle

With less than a week before a 2000 point WAP tournament, I have finished this Lord of Nurgle to lead my Death Guard Warriors of Chaos.

The model uses parts of the Lord Felthius with a suitably Nurgle head swap.

The weapon is a black orc axe with the orc symbols hacked off. As I will be using this bro as Valnir the Reaper, I added the chain to represent his flail.

The left arm is a mix of a Nurgle mutation and a length of spiky mutation from a tzeentch kit.

Painting used death guard green with lots of brown and skin washes. The boils are a yellow green with red base. Since I liked how the boils came out I used the same scheme for his “eye”.

I used a deep red on his cloak to differentiate him from the others in the army who tend to stick with leather and brown for their cloth.

As my death guard infantry are oversized tor their bases, I decided to put him on the column as the size of his terminator armour meant there was no way he was fitting on a 25mm base.

I am very happy with how he came out and as I have been unable to fit in any practice games I don’t know how we will go but at least he looks cool.

Pusgoyle Blightlords

Another unit for my Nurgle WAP army is finished - the mighty Pusgoyle Blightlords.

The minis all come from warhammer 40k death guard kits with additional ogre and orc bits.

For the Blightlords I did some head and weapon swaps to the bodies from the Lord Felthius and his Tainted Cohort set. The rot flies use the body of the blight hauler and the bloat drone “wings”.

I kept the exposed “flesh” the same pink and purple colours of the mutations as a contrast to the drab armour.

The Blightlords all use great weapons so one of them wields a double headed spikes club whilst the others were “great” enough to not need further conversion.

In game terms, the rot flies can fly rather slowly and I think this conversion fits in with a slow moving plague beast.

Painting involved lots of dirty washes and some oxide paint / detail. The boils are painted with yellow green from Vallejo over a red base.

I will use them as a flanking force backing up my units of infantry as at WAP tourney on May 20.  The army will be led by Valnir the Reaper who will be joined by his little buddy Festus.

Putrid Blightkings command group update

With a 1600 point WAP tournament coming up I decided I needed to add a command group to my existing blightkings.

Two bros volunteered for the task. The standard comes from the first edition warhammer nurgle palaquin that I had some bits of floating around.

The muso drum is from the old black orc plastic kit and fits in well. I had run out bells so a drum seemed appropriate for these walking behemoths.

Here’s the full unit together - I have squeezed in a unit of five for the tournament rocking the festering shroud.

Blight King

Another model finished (albeit started in 2021), this time a chaos warrior Blight King.

I have recently started playing the Warhammer Armies Project and tried this unit out in my last game.  Pretty tanky and I now have a unit of five converted from the 40k terminators I picked up from the conquest periodical.

I really like how he turned out as I tried a few different techniques to lighten the armour and the smoke.

Although there was no conversion I think the bone in the axe tones down some of the 40k look of the mini.

Sloth/Nurgle icon bearer

Another 40k conquest dude enters the fantasy world.

Tried a bit of the oxide effect - gonna try this a bit more in the future.

Overall an easy conversion with a weapon swap and a little cutting off of a few more sci fi looking parts.

Dr Doomsludge - Chaos Sorcerer

This is Dr Doomsludge - a mighty chaos sorcerer of Nugle/Sloth.

The miniature is from the 40k conquest periodical with the necessary conversions to make him more fantasy.

Great weapon Chaos Warriors of Sloth/Nurgle

A recent second hand purchase resulted in me obtaining a few extras of the old GW chaos warriors.

After a trip to the dettol bath and with the addition of the great weapons you can astonishingly still get in a blister from the evil empire, I painted the bros up.

These dudes use the same paint method as my previous Sloth/Nurgle Warriors.  They will bulk up the heavily converted great weapon wielding bros seen here and here.

Knights of Sloth/Nurgle finished

I have now finished the final six Chaos knights to finish my unit of ten.

These last six included the champion and standard with the remainder wielding hand weapons and shield.

With these finished, the unit is ten strong and although ranking is an issue., the old GW movement tray kit has a bit of give.  When I get the magnets on with some magnetic strip in the tray, the boys should fall unit line.

Really happy with the finished unit and looking forward to getting the unit on the table when the zombie apocalypse is over.

Chaos Knights of Sloth/ Nurgle

After being happy with my first test model for my chaos knights of sloth/ nurgle.

Two more lance wielding bros and a musician bring my total to four finished.

I have the rest of the command group and a couple more hand weapon and shield bros that when finished will belting the total number to 10.

Ranking up was always an issue with these GW knights and these guys are proving to be no different.  Some wider movement trays and strong magnets should keen the lads in line.

Chosen Warriors with great weapons finished

Here in their best sloth / nurgle glory are the bulk of my chosen warriors with great weapons.

Ranking up will be a challenge, especially for the muso, but I am sure I will find a solution.  I have also posted a back pic to show how I use cloaks to cover the 40k power armour being too blatant for the command group.

Next on the painting desk will be some knights with lances.

Nurgle Marauder Update 8

The final ten nurgle marauders are now complete taking the unit up to 25 completely finished.

I now have enough weapon options within the unit, colours and conversions to break up the look of the single pose minis.

Given the unit’s alignment to the dark gods, eliminating as much uniformity as possible  was my goal and I am extremely happy with the final result.

Here is the full 25 bro unit.
