Hobgoblin Big Boss 2

Another classic hobgoblin from the early 90s has been finished.

This is the miniature known as Hobgoblin Big Boss 2 and is another classic sculpt.

Like many of this range he can be difficult to track down but is well worth the investment.

I went for a little lighter colour for the green skin and purple armour to differentiate him to the other troops in the hobgoblin horde.

Golden Hat competition

Once again those fine chaps at Chaos Dwarfs Online have produced a fantastic range of entries in the latest Golden Hat xxxvi competition.

I was extremely lucky to take out 2nd play with my entry - a giant flaming hat wearing (hob)goblin.

The giant is from: http://www.madpuppetminiatures.com/bust-and-miscellanea/giant-goblin

I repositioned the arm and added more snot using green stuff.
The hat is a piece of reticulation pipe with lots of green stuff and card for the trim with the odd skull thrown in.
The top of the hat is one of the resin GW base treatments with more green stuff for the flames.
The base is an old scenic one that suited very well.

I used a heap of GW and Valeyo paints and my usual purple approach to match the rest of my boys in my chaos/infernal dwarf army.

More Hobgoblins and finished BSB and Standard

With these eight dudes my unit of old school sword and board hobgoblins is finished.

I also added the reprints of the old school banners to finish off the BSB and the standard for the unit.

Here is the unit in it’s full glory with the BSB.

Hobgoblin Kamandarans Part 3

After lockdown ruined my last week of leave I at least had extra time to finish the unit of hobgoblin Kamandarans.

Most of these bros have the rifles from lost kingdom minis. I tried a few different conversions to break up the poses but since these are being retro fitted on my former archers some of the hands holding the rifles are not as crisp as I wanted them.

Apart from that I am extremely stoked to have a unit of 26 finished.

The champ is a 3d print whilst the muso and standard are front the unit’s old incarnation.

I have a couple of ogre unit fillers that need some updating so a unit of 30 plus is doable.

Hobgoblin Kamandarans Part 2

This is part two of my growing unit of Hobgoblin Kamandarans. The weapons come from mantic as detailed in Part 1 and from Lost Kingdom minis.

The Lost Kingdom guns are a mix of flintlock style and more traditional rifle or blunberbuss.

I will be able to rotate the minis in the unit to better represent if I use either option so my opponent is clear what they are fighting.

Hobgoblin Kamandarans

With the imminent release of the Hobgoblin auxiliary book for the 9th Age it was time to leave the Warriors of the Dark Gods and focus on the most treacherous of the greenskins.

Thanks to the ammertime podcast we have a couple of sneak peaks.

One of these is the hobgoblin Kamandarans.

They come with the finest infernal armour and have the option to take the mighty blunberbuss or flintlock axe.

With no miniature options available my existing hobgoblins would need take a visit to the conversion doctor.

These are the blood bowl hobgoblins who with their armour look the part with the addition of the mantic abyssal dwarf rifles.

Game wise these can sub in as being armed with either the blunderbuss or flintlock axe. These are the first of 20 that I will be converting.

New Prophet of Lugar

This is my new Prophet of Lugar for my Infernal Dwarves. This was a pretty simple conversion using a GW runesmiter I picked up in a trade.

The left hand was replaced with a fairly generic runic axe removed from one of those plastic slayers who came with the battle for skull pass version of warhammer.

The face had some horns added with a bigger nose and curly beard sculpted with green stuff. The mowhawk was also removed as this is a little too slayerish for my liking.

The paint scheme followed my previous Disciples of Lugar. I have a couple of games coming where I will try this dude out.

Prophet of Luger on Kadim Chariot

With a new army book with some new options for my beloved big hats, I decided I wanted to have access to everything that was available for my never ending Infernal Dwarves army.

The option for a sorcerer on a daemon chariot gave me a chance to use a spare hellcannon crew member who in a former life was a slaver that was part of my warband based on the excellent Black Dwarf Mordheim list, to become a Prophet of Lugar on a Kadim Chariot.

Although I did not have a single spare beast to pull the chariot I did have some horses (previous GW chaos knight horses) that could be painted in a flame and armour manner to represent the Kadim.  The chariot comes from my tomb king collection and has a few GW marauder shields that I use for the rest of my army.

Banner poles have some horned skulls and the banners are reprints of the white dwarf presents chaos dwarfs book.

I have only used the model once and intend to try it a few more times as I like the idea of a mobile wizard with flaming attacks and an aegis save.

Infernal Bastion construction

With the release of the awesome new Infernal Dwarves book for the 9th Age I decided to move the warriors of the dark gods to one side and start work on the new options for the big hats.

First up is the infernal bastion- a twisted construct to deliver the IDs to anyone foolish enough to think that hiding behind walls or defended obstacles will save you from the sins of zharr.  It’s 360 degrees shooting and magic arc will also make those pesky ambushers think again about coming out from hiding behind my line.

My bastion comes again from the 40k conquest periodical and uses two armoured containers and a heap of the spiky bits that came with the rhino.  The battering ram uses the alternative head from the old metal GW gorger.

Painting will be in my traditional colours of liche purple and hashut copper.
