Extra bolt thrower crew and some archers

Under the warhammer armies project rules the hobgoblin bolt throwers have three crew so after a little leg surgery for one of these minis (who was missing one) I now have an extra couple of crew for my two way machines.

As the sculpts are limited I changed up the painting to make them a little different to my original ones. This will break them up from the others.

Also next is a couple of halberds dudes I had converted who have again been converted into archers.  The bows come from left overs from the Russian alternative dudes who have become Ravagers.

Hobgoblin Ravagers finished

Below are the finished hobgoblin ravagers for the Warhammer Armies Project.

The minis come from Russian Alternative so are not available at the moment due to the unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

I wanted to try and capture the frenzied approach of these bros and am happy with the look of these dudes which was achieved by multiple layers of greens for the skin and the red of the eyes.

Also finished was a standard for my wolf riders that incorporates the old school 90s banner and the hobgoblin symbol from the 9th Age rule book.

Hobgoblin Ravagers work in progress

Next on the painting table is a unit of hobgoblin ravagers for the warhammer armies project.

Think frenzied loons on hounds wielding a weapon in each hand and you get these guys.

The minis come from Russian Alternative that I won a few years ago in a Chaos Dwarfs Online painting competition.

Most of weapons come from the GW tomb kings skeleton kit.

I used a lot of GW contrast paints on the first test mini which sped up the painting a little. I dig the finish so will keep on going to have the unit finished for a May tournament.

Araby Bladedancer and Assassins

First up is a bladedancer for my Araby army courtesy of Reaper minis. I went for a darker skin tone but it’s a nod to Storm from the Xmen.

From Reaper also is this assassin. It’s an old school thick metal mini that will double as a throwing weapon if needed.

Lastly from Harlequin/ black tree design is one of their Saracen assassins.

Here they are with the also recently finished palace guard.

Araby Palace Guard and Character

First up is my unit of 14 palace guard for my Araby army. The mins are part of the harlequin now black tree design Saracen range and are perfect. I have another two blisters including the command group on their way from different parts of the world.

Next is one of my favourite GW minis, Suliman the Saracen who I have rescued from his service to Bretonnia to rejoin his araby brothers.

The horse is from black tree design to match in the other cavalry I have already finished. This mini did not have his original shield so I subbed in one from some 3d prints.

Araby Cavalry

The last of my converted Araby cavalry have been finished. When completing these I decided as they would represent heavier cavalry they would have liberated tomb king shields.

The unit is now finished and are ready to leave the plains of Araby for the old world.

More Araby Cavalry

I managed to finished two more cavalry. The first will be the unit champion and the other will be a trooper.

With these two the unit is now six strong with two more on the painting table.

Warhammer Armies Project Game - Warriors of chaos vs beastmen and orcs

Here are some pics from a recent 5000 point game of warriors vs some treacherous beastmen and their orc buddies.

We’re so pretty, oh so pretty

Converted marauders of Nurgle getting ready to be slaughtered by cave squigs

The hellcannon blew itself up on turn one

The marauders surge forward in the left flank only to be beaten back by the beast lord in his go go mobile.

The shaggoth is not long for the plain of existence after copping magic attacks

The blight lords don’t stand a chance

Although my army was led by the valiant Sigvald, a game and cat and mouse resulted in an orc and gor sandwich which even the Magnificent one could not win.
