Chaos Space Marine Raptors - Finished

 This the the second and final post of my new raptors for my Alpha Legion army. Part one is here.

Consistent with the other bros I added in a little more brass to their armour compared to previous Alpha Legionnaires.

 In my mind the raptors are a little more egotistical than other bros given their flash jump packs and the daredevil missions they are deployed on.

The sarge’s armour in particular means he will be hard to miss on the battlefield.

The full unit has come out great and I look forward to using them again but this time avoiding techmarines and their many arms/ attacks.

I have also started a new Dark Angels project to break up the painting of the hydra dudes.

Chaos Space Marine Raptors

 These are first of five chaos space marine raptors for my Alpha Legion.

The minis are the now out of production metal bodies and jump packs. The arms are combination of the original metal arms with the remainder various plastic arms and weapons.

Painting followed the previous alpha legion posts with green used on cables and the cool beast at the base of the jet pack. I also used a little more brass to highlight various skulls and motifs on these old school bros.

Game wise I have tried them once and they decided to take on a techmarine- it did not go so well.  

40K Terminators and Chosen Chaos Space Marine

I have managed to finish two more terminators and another chosen chaos space marine ready for an upcoming game.

The terminators continued to trend of the first three to add as many skulls to the trophy racks as possible and a couple on the base.

This is a second version of this chosen dude so he added some extra brass paint to differentiate him a little from his brother.

40K Chaos Terminators

 These are the first of my Alpha Legion terminators.

A couple of them had their trophy racks damaged in transport so I mixed in a heap of skulls from different sources to give them a more chaotic feel than the originals that tend to look the same.

Painting followed my previous alpha legion bros with some reds and brass to break up the blue green.

A blood angel helmet was painted for one of my regular gaming bros who takes the space vampires.

Skull decals for the right arm seemed appropriate.

 

40K Helbrute

 More reinforcements for the hydra with this Helbrute.

This is an oop version from a time when they were called chaos dreadnoughts and only came in metal.

It weighs a tonne compared to the plastic or resin versions available these days.

The base has some of the old GW resin basing kits.

 

Chaos Cultists 40K Part 4

 The final six cultists are now complete.

I tried some different shades of browns with the Vallejo hardened leather contrast paint but wanted to keep the hive scum dirty browns and blacks dominant.

Some odd splashes of Alpha Legion blue green here and there and the hydra has six more lost souls.

With this six that’s 24 in total ready to spread the word of Alpharius.

Chaos Cultists 40K Part 3

 More cultists for the hydra using a little more blue green on a few minis.

Paint scheme follows that from Part 1.

Contrast paints and dirty browns are really giving these bros the proper grim dark wargear for those who follow the ruinous gods with the blue a nod to where their allegiance truly lies.

Chaos Cultists 40K Part 2

 Another five chaos cultists are finished for my Alpha Legion.

The paint scheme for the bros followed that in part 1.

The leader equipped the shot gun got a little more blue/ green befitting of his status within the hydra.

Next batch of cultists will include the heavy weapons.

Chaos Cultists 40k

 With my Lord and Chosen finished it was time for some cheap bodies in the form of chaos cultists.

The cultists are from the Dark Vengeance box set. I have managed to pick up a few more so I will have 24 when the pile of shame is complete (cultists only).

My paint scheme was for as many dark and dirty browns and blacks with the only colour in the form of their piping (to match my Alpha Legion) and some cloth also in the colours of the hydra bros.

I also like how the power packs on their backs turned out using the same approach as the piping.

I used GW and Vallejo paints for these and am happy how their dirty clothes and gear contrast with the power armour of my Alpha Legion dudes in their power amour.

Alpha Legion Lord

The hydra continues to grow with a Chaos Space Marine Lord finished to lead my legion.

Again this mini came from the Dark imperium set from a few years ago like my previous dudes posted.

The backpack came from a plague marine that I always thought looked cool with its speaker. In my mind it’s got “Realm of Chaos” from Bolt thrower on a continuous loop. 

The skull on the base comes from heroquest the best gateway drug GW ever produced,

Next up on the painting table will be 24 cultists.

 

Alpha Legion Chosen

With my paint scheme worked out as detailed in the previous post I have managed to finish the remainder of the chosen unit.

I decided to add in more neon green to these bros to reflect the mysterious nature of the legion.
