More cultist reinforcements

Keeping the Alpha Legion project going this week includes another 11 cultists.

Painting followed the approach in my first Cultists post with the only change being the blue painted to match my current approac (noting I had already updated the blue on the older dudes too).

Although the range of sculpts is a bit limited compared to the current multi part kit, I always loved the chaos range from the dark imperium set so when I saw some reinforcements going cheap I scooped them up.

Here are the 11 hanging out with their earlier painted mates.

Chaos Lord and Venomcrawler

 Some more reinforcements for my Alpha Legion with the Chaos Lord from the blackstone fortress set and a venomcrawler.

I always liked the lord mini with one of reasons for his inclusion in my new Alpha Legion is the amount of tentacles growing out of his armour. He appears to slowly becoming one with those tentacles.

The only conversion I needed to do was shaving down his left should pad so I could apply the Alpha Legion transfer. 

Painting of both minis followed the approach of the Alpha Legion Legionnaires with a little extra attention for the lord befitting of his status.

Both bases had cork added to represent rocks to break up the bases a little more. After I finished the paint job I decided to add some barbed wire to both bases so a few of these pics are from before that addition.

As is with the case with my Alpha Legion I want there to be a slow mix of the weapons and armour with the yellow green tentacles. The venomcrawler demonstrates this with the “flesh” and exhaust fumes painted the same way.

 

Alpha Legion Legionnaires 2 Part Two

I have now finished the next five of my second unit of legionnaires.

Much like the first the next five are set for close range shooting and combat.

Painting followed the scheme in Part 1with a little extra of the green paint mix on the accursed weapon of the leader.

With 10 done the unit is ready for the battlefield.

My plan is to run the deceptors detachment but I think I may need some heavy hitters so next up for the Alpha Legion will be a venom crawler and possibly some obliterators.
