I decided to take a short break from my Deathwatch project to add this Dark Apostle to my Alpha Legion.
Befitting of his character status, the mini has a great robe. Unlike my other Hydra bros, I went with a dark purple robe using GW purple contrast and Vallejo dark purple paint. I used my usual red combination on the other cloth areas.
The book was painted first with a leather brown spore paint followed by a red wash in the symbols. I then highlight with wraithbone and added yellow green on some of the larger symbols. In the end, it kind of reminds me of the Evil Dead book which is groovy baby.
Across the flames I went for my yellow green paint followed by tesserect green. The tesserect acts a bit like a wash after the yellow green base coats.
I decided to use the same yellow green for the Apostle’s eyes with a little overpaint across the eye brows, nose and cheek for an attempt to have a glow effect. Came out pretty subtle but is there.
The two Disciples were painted with the same approach as the Apostle. For the book I used a purple contrast like the robe and built up silvers.
Across the minis I went for black candles with the yellow green paint combo for the flame.
As usual I have no idea how this bro will go in a game but I am glad to have another piece of my collection assembled and painted.
