Deathwatch Watch Master

The Deathwatch gets some serious leadership with a new Watch Master.

Steadfast in his support of Watch Captain Artemis, this bro has similarly been upgraded to a 40mm base in my hope of a primaris size base in the future.

Painting followed my usual Deathwatch approach with the left shoulder armour silver with blue highlights. I decided the power armour was to be a silver and black paint job more consistent with other DW paint schemes. In my universe he has forsaken his former chapter and fully embraced his service to the Emperor as a Watch Master of the Deathwatch. Mystery surrounds his previous service …

The right shoulder and his high collar were painted in speed paint gold with gun metal highlights. Plasmatic blue was used on some cabling to offset the other colours.

I added a burning chalice transfer from the witch hunter kit that filled the circle on his right shoulder. Not sure what it is used for on other minis but seemed appropriate on this bro.

The metal on the weapons was a mix of gun metal speed and normal paint with mithril silver highlights.

The skin tone used Vallejo crusade skin with dwarf and pale skin highlights.

The reds were a mix of GW red paints on a blood angel contrast paint base.

As the mini is still first born size, a large tactical rock made from cork was added to his base. This approach will ensure he won’t be too short next to my Decimus Kill Team and Deathwatch Veterans.

I also expect GW to release a new primaris Watch Master during 11th edition 40K so I will definitely be picking up another one. This bro will be leading one of my two veterans/ Decimus kill teams.

Deathwatch Corvus Blackstar

The slow growth of my 11th edition 40K army project, the mighty Deathwatch, now has some serious manoeuvrability with this Corvus Blackstar.

The kit was quite easy to build and of course I chose the lascannon as the front weapons. If I get a second I may opt for the assault cannons.

Painting following the usual approaches of my Deathwatch veterans and in particular how the black was painted like the Iron Hands vet.

Basing used my cork rocks and stirling mud approach.

This is a great kit and even our old buddy Watch Captain Artemis is keen to take it for a spin.

Hawk Lords Deathwatch Veteran

Project Deathwatch continues with another brother, this time from the Hawk Lords.

The body again came from the infernus marines with the plasma incinerator from the kill team.

Painting used the following paints for the purple.

The remaining colours were mixes like the previous veterans.

The plasma on the weapons used plasmatic blue speed paint over a white undercoat. I did this a couple of time with lighter shades of white and then more of the blue.

Here is the ten man unit that I reckon is a good mix of firepower and melee weapons.
