Alpha Legion Legionnaires

With 2025 coming to an end and the completion of my Dark Angels, I have decided to refresh my Alpha Legion.

Unlike my old minis I wanted a metallic finish to the blue/ green power of the sneakiest legion of them all.

First up was a squad of Legionnaires built with a fairly standard mix of bolters, chainswords, melta gun and heavy bolter.

All the minis were undercoated with this great chrome paint I purchased from my local hobby store.

The recipe for the blue/green power armour is below. The gw kroxigor scales had a little Vallejo medium added and gave me the finish I wanted.

The silver trim of the power armour followed a similar approach using the following.

For a bit of extra colour the fabric was painted in red using the below.

Similar to my older bros I wanted the cables and tentacles to be a mix of greens. Painting both these ways was my attempt to show that despite being the most “loyal” marines, their time on the run has seen a steady merging of weapons and armour.

The bases also had this mix of paint to represent fighting in a polluted world.

The paint scheme was a bit of research and trial and error but came out exactly as I wanted.

Hydra dominatus.

Iron Sultanate characters and Brazen Bull

The final chapter in creating my Iron Sultanate for Trench Crusade is finished with these characters and the mighty Brazen Bull.

Leading from the front is the Yubazi Captain. Painting followed the previous bros with a bit more silver and gold/ bronze befitting of his status.

Next up and throwing some fire is the Jabirean Alchemist. I purposely painted her ornate armour more gold/ bronze rather than silver as in my mind she has more access to such precious metal.

Rounding out the characters is the Assassin. Great mini and I look forward to seeing him on the battlefield.

The mini that made my choice of warband is this mighty Brazen Bull. I painted the skin to match the Lions of Jabar from my previous post.

I painted the feed tubes of his cannon in somewhat bright colours to contrast with the muddy bases and other darker colours.

I am very happy with my decision to paint my warband with the purple and black of the cloth/ skin with the silver and gold of the armour.  Now it’s time to go over the top!
