Deathwing Sternguard Veterans Part 1

The war against the plastic krak from the Leviathan box continues with the Sternguard Veterans next on the painting table.

Given their veteran status it was obvious they would be painted as members of the Deathwing for my Dark Angels.

I wanted these bros to be a little different to my Terminators and Bladeguard Veterans so their power armour is a little more bone and less white than those bros. I also added gold trim and for something different, gold helmets.

The weapons were also kept black and metal colour unlike the red, black and metal of my other dark angels.

Three more to do to finish off the unit.

Infernus Marines Part 3

Despite many challenges thanks to noncooperative transfers I have finished the last three of the infernus marines from the Leviathan box set.

On a couple of the bros I used some slightly larger transfers on the right shoulder but apart from that kept the same approach as the other bros.

Am really happy with this unit and am looking forward to giving them a run in my next game of 40K 10th edition.

Here is the full ten man unit.

Infernus Marines Part 2

After being happy with my Infernus Marine test mini it was time to paint more of his mates.
Painting followed the test mini with the exception that I used the GW purple contrast paint for a slightly darker colour for the end of the barrel.
I really liked the sculpt of the sarge with the combat knife and the grenade thrower so I made them both. Rules wise I probably will run a unit of ten so this should not be a problem.

I wanted to have as many bald heads as possible so went into my Dark Angels bits box for various options. For the helmeted bros I went for a yellow/ red approach for the eye sockets to match the flames from their weapon.

I also like the over size Dark Angel chapter emblems to fill up their left shoulder pads.

Only three to go and the ten man unit will be ready to burn for the Emperor.

Infernus Marine Test Mini

The battle against the plastic krak of the leviathan box set continues with the Infernus Marines.

Unlike my usual approach to painting of all in to win, I decided to start with a test mini.

After a few google searches I wanted some extra colour so decided on the gold trim for these infantry bros over a black undercoat. Highlights from above used leadbelcher followed by a heavy dry brush of white (again using make up brushes).

My usual green speed paint and the following colours and my man was ready.

The barrel of the pyreblaster has a blended wash of earthshax up to a purple wash, again stolen from various YouTube tutorials. This is probably my fave part of the finished paint job as I had never tried this before and am stoked with the outcome.

I will paint in combat squad batches to keep things moving.

In between painting this bro I also finished the teleport homer from the leviathan box - although small it still counts as one mini painted for my 2023 tally. I tried a bit of object source lighting for the homer user a light blue speed paint.
