Leviathan Deathwing Terminators

After finishing my Deathwing Landraider it was time to paint the terminators from the leviathan box set.

The only conversions were to include some heraldry from the Dark Angels veteran kit on the top of the terminator armour.

Painting followed the approach of this unit Terminators finished recently.

I used the decals from the leviathan box for the deathwing and the terminator symbols.  Next up is the terminator librarian and the sternguard vets also from the leviathan box.

Deathwing Landraider

For the next addition to my Dark Angels, I decided to paint up this second hand landraider I picked up.

It was a little banged up with a missing hatch for the storm bolder so I decided to go with a battle damaged grim dark paint scheme over the Deathwing colours.

This was my first time trying sponging for battle damage so hat used various browns and bolt gun metal to highlight the damage. I also tried some oil paints in some small areas.

The hatch was converted to look banged up and stuck in a half open state with some extra damage.  I like the finish to the vents on the back of the tank that give off a smoke stained look to complement the view that this tank is on its last legs (track) but won’t go down without a fight.

I am happy with the final model and will be trying the sponging battle damage on the leviathan box terminators next.

For a change here is a quick YouTube video for the 360 or so view.

Here is a pic of my growing Deathwing bros.

40K Terrain

Despite a visit from papa nurgle ruining my plans for a game of 10th edition 40K, I did manage to finish some barricades for my terrain collection.

Painting used a mix of blue and red contrast paints with brass and bolt gun metal highlights throughout.  Dirty black and strong tone washes gave it the necessary grim dark feel.

Deathwing Terminator Captain

With the release of the leviathan box set, the first mini to be assembled and paint is the terminator Captain.

The only conversion here is to swap out the head for a hooded version from the Dark Angels veteran kit. The cape has a mix of greens and washes.
I tried to keep my paint scheme similar to the Deathwing terminators 2 with a little more gold on his armour trim.

The corpse of the tyranid uses red and black contrast paint over a black/ white highlight undercoat.

I will use this scheme when I eventually get to the bugs in the leviathan box.
