More Japanese troops

With a week off I managed to finish a few more Japanese troops.

Our campaign begins in roughly three months so it's time to get cracking as I have approximately another 37 troops and a tank to get ready.

First Japanese troops finished

These are my first finished Japanese troops for an upcoming Malay World War 2 campaign.

Paint wise for the uniform I start with a Vallejo spray, Japanese uniform colour and a light wash of the old GW flesh wash. Belts and pouches used snake bite leather and guns are bolt gun metal and beasty brown with the same flesh wash.

Lots more of these bros to come in between a 9th Age Arabian themed KoE army.

Mongoblin command and unit finished

So finally I have finished the Mongoblin command and now the unit of Mongoblin spears is finally finished.

I am super happy with the mix of heads to give the unit a real mixed feel of those from the steppe in the dark lands.

World war 2 Japanese

Work in progress of my First World War 2 Japanese for my upcoming Malay campaign.  The colours use Vallejo base spray and highlights by the Japanese colour.  All were given a wash if a combination reikland flesh and old GW flesh wash.

Update to Mongoblin command group

The progress has been slow but the Mongoblin command group is almost finished.

Mongoblin command group

Painting has been a bit slow of late but at least I have assembled the Mongoblin command group.

The head of the champion comes from Ghazak himself with the muso from one of wolf boys using magic mould.  The other heads are the most Mongoblin from the goblin wolf riders.

The unit will be finished after these dudes and then I turn to the next project being World War Two Japanese as part of a Malay campaign.

In between shouts of banzai and shots of sake I will also get into my disciples of lugar for infernal dwarfs.

More multi based Mongoblins

Next two bases are now completed.

The heads came from Oglah khan's wolf boys using magic mould and a couple from the excellent goblin wolf rider kit.  As the goal is to reflect the mult goblin / racial approach of the mighty Hobgobla Khan I like the variation in the unit.

Next up will be the command miniatures.

Going character heavy was intended to try out which build of the general I preferred - overlord or prophet.

My opponent ran a couple of beastmen units, chariots, a big block of minotaurs and one of each of the nasty monsters.

The game was a back and forth struggle with the beast monster and dogs hitting the blunderbuss with the prophet and bsb.  Took a few turns and lots of magic buffs eventually took down the big guy.

The immortals with the overlord withstood the front charge of the minotaurs and ousted them back only to later be hit again in the front and the flank by the chariots who had used the backstabbers as a speed bump. The immortals fled and were wiped out when I failed leadership check on ten twice by rolling eleven twice!

The Titan mortar did not hit much during the game which was disappointing.  The Orc slaves look cool but ran off when they had a chance to shine.

The little Taurukhs did not do much and the bigger versions who scared off the centaurs early in the game eventually made it around the board to charge the Shaman only to then be hit by the rock throwing monster.

We called it quits there but MVP went to the blunderbuss unit with the prophet and BSB.  The alchemy buffs made this unit pretty resilient and I was super impressed by how devastating their blunderbuss are in the shooting phase.

The immortals with the overlord withstood a Minotaur charge and pushed them back but could not catch them.

I think my next version of the list will include wolf riders as chaff and probably some more infantry units.

In the battle for the general I think I will drop the overlord and go the prophet with the points saved to add some more warmachines.
