Primaris Dark Angels Chaplain

The Unforgiven continues to expand, this time with a Primaris Chaplain.

With his half skull and blackened armour the Interrogator hunts the fallen to give them one last chance for redemption.

I tried to maintain the grim dark of his mission by using a lot of dark washes over my usual approach to the Dark Angels power armour.

Looking forward to getting him on the battlefield.

Ravenwing Chaplain Conversion

As my Ravenwing force grows I decided they needed a chaplain to lead them into their most secret of missions.

Going through my pile of shame I came across the Ravenwing sergeant from the 6/7th edition box set.  I always liked this mini so decided he would be suitable for the chaplain.

The conversion was pretty easy with an exchange of the back pack to a skull version from the veterans box. The chainsword and forearm were removed and replaced with a cool looking power club and a winged skull also from the veterans box to create a unique Crozuis Arcanum.

The book on the front of the bike also came from the extras in the veterans box with a couple of transfers.

The converted Crozuis Arcanum.

The “writing” on the scroll for the back came from a couple of different transfer sheets and came out pretty cool.

Although not play tested, my thought was this bro would lead a maxxed out Outrider unit with an ATV and smite the foes of the Emperor.

Ravenwing Lieutenant in Phobos Armour

My Ravenwing continues to grow with this Lieutenant in Phobos armour.

Painting followed the same approach as my Outriders with some extra silver trim on the shoulder pads and gold on some other areas.

My thought is he will be joining the Infiltrators for the lethal hits he will give them.

Nords Trolls

The warriors of the north continue to grow with my finished unit of trolls.

I used the below contrast the following speed paint blues to get a little variety in the skin tone as I did not want them to look like a unit of smurfs.  The paints went straight over the usual black undercoat with dry brush white/ grey highlights.

I decided to go bright in the hair as a throw back to the troll toys of the 80s and 90s again using speed and contrast paints.

The did well in the first game so have been rewarded with this cool paint job that I really dig.

Ravenwing Infiltrators

After liking the finish on my first three Ravenwing Infiltrators and Suppressor I have managed to finish the remaining seven bros for the unit.

Painting followed the approach of the first three with the load out of a couple of bros in this unit permitting some extra colours on their screens and other kit.

As these dudes came with the imperium magazine I followed the paint guide on the grenade and smoke and am happy with the finished mini.

My Ravenwing force is slowly growing with the also now completed unit of Suppressors and two units of Outriders.

Here is the complete ten man unit ready to scout ahead of the forthcoming bike, ATV and Suppressor attack.

Ravenwing Suppressors

Another unit finished for my slowly growing Ravenwing force with these Suppressors.

Painting followed my drybrush and black speed paint with my approach to the infiltrators and suppressor test post.

The sarge got some bolt gun silver on his shoulder pads but apart from that the approach to achieve a suitable black power armour seems to be working.  A Vallejo matte version varnish spray is applied to tone down any excess shine from the various paints used.

Here is the three man unit finished up.

Although I have never used them in a game the rule of cool will see them take to the battlefield in my next 40K game.

Nords Vargyr Lord and Ugrs

Next up for my Nords is a Vargyr Lord and a unit of Ugrs.

Painting used my usual black undercoat and various dry brushes of grey and white.

All the remainder colours were achieved with contrast/ speed paints and lighter highlights.

The Lord has a slightly darker cloak than the others in the army as his skin has a light blue colour.

The Ugr skin was achieved by a gw blue wash and various highlights.

I was impressed by both the Lord and the Ugrs in their first outing so they will be a regular feature in future games.

Ravenwing Infiltrators and Supressor

My heretical approach to building my Dark Angels army continues with these Ravenwing Infiltrators and Supressor.

In my Ravenwing, the Infiltrators have sped ahead of the rest of my armies and hidden their bikes so they can get up their business ready for the arrival of the outriders and ATVs.

The Suppresor similarly swoops in and lay down their fire for the inevitable outrider’s assault.

Painting followed the approach of my Outriders posts with the black power armour achieved with a steel grey Vallejo drybrush and black speed paints. I really like how the Vallejo matte spray varnish gives the power armour a very cool flat finish.

The minis were once again from the Imperium magazine. Of note was the missing flight stand for the suppressor. A see through paint brush tip came to rescue so this bro can take flight.

Ravenwing Outriders Part 2

This is my second unit of Ravening Outriders.

Painting followed the same approach in Part 1 approach of black undercoat, various dry brushes and speed/contrast paints.

I wanted these dudes to be different to the first unit so I used spare eliminator heads with the cool goggles for two of the bros.

I am looking forward to adding some Invader ATVs to my growing Ravenwing force.
